Daffodils

I started a new blog because I switched to wordpress but found I liked blogger more. However, it was a rabbit hole to switch my old blog back to blogger so I just opened a new one.

It's still me though, Kara/Hopie from a spirit of simplicity

I am feeling better after having the flu at the beginning of February. My husband and I both had it.

I slept in the guest room cuddled up with our cat, Tucker. While my husband slept in our bed.

We are better now and back at work.

I keep buying daffodils and placing little vases of them all over the house.

I am so desperately longing for spring.

The weather was rainy and cool this morning but not the frigid and frozen that we have been having.

It may not look it but spring is not too very far away.

I'm very thankful to have such a beautiful commute to work.

My beautiful step-daughter, Ashley died 9 years ago today.

I miss her very much and so sad for all that she lost when she left this world.

I am grateful to know that she is at peace with those who went before her.

"...And then my heart with pleasure fills

and dances with the daffodils."

JOIN ME EACH FRIDAY!

spring hopes eternal

We are not quite here yet...there is still snow and mud and all sorts of yuck on the ground under our feet.

I am thankful that spring is on it's way though.

So very thankful.

It's been a long and frigid winter with hardly a chance to get outside at all.

I am yearning to clamber through the wood and see things growing.

Already, I can hear birds in the early mornings as the sun comes up.

Every spring there is a new chance to see the earth awakening from its winter nap.

Almost Spring

The good

Spring is less than a month away and I saw peonies in the market the other day.

It's been beastly, frigidly cold here this winter so just to smell them was delightful.

The fun

My granddaughter, Natalie turned 4! She received a  tutu from one of her great aunts and decided that since she already had one on she would wear this one on her head!

So silly!

The random

I thrifted this very pretty vintage vase a few months ago

and thought that the tulips I bought at the market would look pretty in it.

The good, the random, the fun

 Ashley

All of your memories are locked within me but they are echoes now

fading and fainter than the originals

second and third and fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth year this month

the fire does not burn as hot as it did all those years ago when you first left us

It no longer scorches the friends and family you left behind

I remember your words but no longer your voice

I wish that I could hear you laughing out once again.

I wish that you could show me all the things you've seen since we last saw each other

Time does not have the power to go back

I can only bank the coals now...ashes to ashes and all of that.

Daffodils and primroses and the coming of spring

a month away yet from Spring and months and months to go until summer time and yet...

dreams are blooming in my heart of long walks and days spent at the beach or in the mountains

Dragonflies and hollyhocks all everywhere...marking the passages of time.

Today though is the last week of February with all the hubbub of valentines day behind us ~ Saint

Patrick's and the vernal equinox to hope for.

These are the days of daffodils in the markets and tulips bright and cheery in little vases on the kitchen

table promising warmer weather and happier dispositions.

I've already begun to creep in at the edges of my spring wardrobe though the weather is still frigidly

cold...hardly a temp above zero and that is without the wind chill.

March is but a week and will bring little pots of Oxalis and brightly coloured primrose plants on the

market shelves.

Still though, a bouquet of yellow daffodils as I reach for my winter jacket is just enough to spring hope

eternal in my heart of hearts.
